Description
A comprehensive advanced language course, offered as a sequel to CHIN3101. Emphasis is on the further development of communication skills (oral expression, listening comprehension) in Modern Standard Chinese.

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course students will be able to:
1. Use 800 words in simple conversations in Chinese.
2. Translate simple conversations from and into Chinese.
3. Understand written Chinese within their vocabulary range.
4. Converse fluently in Chinese at an advanced undergraduate level.
Content
The course will cover:
- Intensive training in communication skills (enunciation, speaking and listening),
- Classroom performances of students own work,
- Oral report of assigned topics,
- A series of texts on topics that are of interest to students: campus life and family, aspects of Chinese culture, oral expression, intensive reading skills in MSC will be emphasised.
- Grammatical structures at an advanced level.
Assumed knowledge
CHIN3101 or equivalent.
