In 2016, close to 300 students applied for extra support through the Shaping Futures Scholarship Fund, a fund that is entirely made possible by the generosity of donors.
Of these students many have the ability and determination to succeed but face significant additional challenges. They might be balancing responsibilities as a full-time carer, managing disabilities that impact their ability to study, juggling career responsibilities or struggling to survive on as little as $50 a week. They need your help to achieve their dreams.
100% of your donation goes to the Shaping Futures Scholarship Fund. This fund gives the gift of education to students no matter the disadvantage, background or circumstances they have faced and gives them the chance to achieve their dreams.
I am delighted to see Daniel defying his doctor’s expectations and excelling in his studies at UON—all thanks to generous supporters like you who contribute to scholarships. Together, we can shape bright futures for students facing hardship and disadvantage.

Students like Daniel need your continued support
Daniel was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at age three. The doctor said it was the worst case he had seen in 20 years. Daniel’s mother received the prognosis along with the advice “Your son will never amount to anything.”
Thankfully, Daniel’s mum wholeheartedly believed in her son’s abilities. Though ASD makes learning, verbal communication and socialising difficult, Daniel learned from his mum that it’s okay to be different and to focus on his strengths. With a gift for the written word, Daniel is now excelling in a Bachelor of Communication at UON.
Daniel hopes to become a journalist one day. A scholarship supported by generous individuals like you is making this dream a reality. The scholarship helps cover costs that far exceed Daniel’s financial means such as textbooks, required computer resources, ongoing medical costs, and travel expenses for Daniel’s 200km-round commute from home to university.
Many more talented students facing hardship and disadvantage need your continued support to achieve their career dreams.
