Scholar's Week 2016

We are very grateful for the support of all of our donors and dedicate the week commencing 12 September as Scholar's Week.

During this week there are a  number of events which will give to opportunity for our scholarship recipients to say thank you to our generous donors.

It is inspiring to see that those who give to change someone's life often benefit from seeing that person, or their research, change the lives of those around them.

We are grateful to all of our supporters and recognising your gift is important to us. We cannot thank you enough.

Please see below to hear directly how your generosity has impacted their lives.

Newcastle Law School Ralph Coolahan Scholarship recipient 2016
Bachelor of Laws (Honours)
Faculty of Business and Law

“I thank you for the generous scholarship I have been awarded in memory of the late Judge Ralph Coolahan. In particular, I would like to thank you for recognising some of the barriers to practice and education – financial and regional disadvantage.

Due to this scholarship I have continued to volunteer for a local Legal Service which presents a wonderful learning opportunityand providing assistance to facilitate access to justice. I will always keep the compassion and commitment to the rule of law displayed by Judge Coolahan at the forefront of my mind. Thank you for your generosity!”

Lewis Ewart Lewis Physiotherapy Scholarship recipient 2016
Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours)
Faculty of Health and Medicine

“The Bachelor of Physiotherapy has provided me with some great experiences, particularly my clinical placements where I have had the opportunity to do local placements in Newcastle and rural placements in areas like Port Macquarie. I particularly enjoy musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy and would one day like to pursue this area.

I feel extremely privileged to have received the 2016 Lewis Ewart Lewis Physiotherapy Scholarship. It is an honour to receive a scholarship that was established in memory of a pioneering physiotherapist...and if he were with us today I would love to thank him.”

Glen Turner Scholarship recipient 2016
Bachelor of Environmental Science and Management (Honours)
Faculty of Science and Information Technology

“This incredibly generous scholarship has already allowed me to lighten my work load outside of university classes, and is allowing me to focus on my Honours year and time spent researching in the lab and field. It has offered me financial security, so that more of my time and effort can be spent ensuring my studies remain top priority. While much sadness and grief surrounds the circumstance of such an opportunity for myself, I am extremely humbled and grateful to be selected as the Glen Turner Scholar for 2016.”
