Watt Space loves volunteers – and you can gain professional arts administration practice while making a real difference. Our volunteers have gained jobs in galleries, arts centres and cultural organisations, and they have managed festivals and projects.
If you are a current UON student, you can help out at openings, be front of house, help with installation and exhibitions, assist with events, and be involved with all our programs and all our people.

Co-directors – Watt Space Committee
There are three positions elected from UON students, by UON students for the Watt Space management committee. Together with university staff the Co-directors meet monthly to discuss general business and new exhibition applications. Being a Co-director of Watt Space provides real experience in management, organisational development and all aspects of arts administration
Expressions of interest for 2019 nominees will be collected by ballot in March 2019. If this sounds like something that would interest you or someone that you know, listen out for the announcement when boxes will be placed at Watt Space and the University Gallery (Callaghan campus).
Student Interns – Watt Space and the University Gallery
There will be a new round of internships available in 2019. Work hours will be tailored to the student study cycle and the needs of both galleries and is open to current UON students. Interns will receive mentorship from the University Art Curator while learning real on-the-job skills in Arts Administration. Keep an eye out for the Applications for 2019 later this year.
