The University of Newcastle, Australia

The University Gallery has a volunteer program for UON students which offers training in various aspects of Arts Administration. This program is an enjoyable and valuable opportunity for students who wish to pursue a career in the Arts.

If you are a student of Creative Industries or someone with a keen interest in the arts, the gallery welcomes you to support gallery activities. There are a number of ways to be involved including positions in visitor services, assisting with exhibition openings, public and educational programs, guided tours for visiting artists and gallery guests, researching the stories behind the University Collection and learning how to care for artworks. Volunteers at the University Gallery have gained jobs in galleries, arts centres and cultural organisations, and they have managed festivals and projects.

To apply download the Volunteer Application Form.

There is a new round of internships available in 2020. Work hours will be tailored to the student study cycle and the needs of the University Gallery and Watt Space and is open to current UON students. Interns will receive mentorship from the University Art Curator while learning real on-the-job skills in Arts Administration.

Applications can be made through Jobs on Campus.
