Enrolment Procedures

New Students

New students should first contact the Conservatorium office on (02) 4921 8900 to arrange placement in a class or the allocation of a teacher for instrumental or vocal tuition. All new students will then be asked to complete and return the Conservatorium Student Enrolment Form (PDF 25KB).

Please note: The Conservatorium reserves the right to cancel classes depending on student numbers.

The Conservatorium has EFTPOS facilities available at the Newcastle office and is able to accept payments by MasterCard, Visa or debit card, or by a cheque attached to an enrolment form (cheques are usually cleared within 10 working days, please contact us if you have any enquiries on its status). There is also an online payment website where students can process their own payments with Visa or MasterCard. Cash cannot be accepted.

Re-Enrolling Students

All students are automatically re-enrolled each term. Invoices are posted out a few weeks before the start of term. This form will indicate your current enrolment details and what you must pay to continue your enrolment in the upcoming term. If you do not receive your invoice please contact the office prior to the start of term.

Discontinuing Students

If you are not returning please notify the Conservatorium office ASAP (in addition to your teacher) to ensure that you are not charged any additional fees and to allow your place to be offered to other interested students.

Duty of Care

It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to escort to and collect from the allocated room, their child/children in a punctual manner. The parent/guardian must inform their teacher in advance if a person other than the parent/guardian is delivering or collecting the child/children.

Instrument Hire

The Conservatorium offers an instrument hire service to those students currently enrolled in Conservatorium single study lessons. Instrument hire is available on a per term basis at a modest cost for a limited period. A bond payment is required for all instrument hire. The bond will be refunded at the end of the hire agreement provided Instrument Hire Conditions have been satisfied. Hire fees, bond rates and hire periods are available on application.

Student Medical Conditions

Parents are asked to report student's medical conditions on enrolment to their teacher or to the Director of Community Music  Programs.  Contact numbers for the Conservatorium's First Aid Officers are displayed in all rooms.
