Community Venue Partnership program
The Newcastle Conservatorium of Music’s Community Venue Partnership Program assists community groups and organisations by providing venue space and support for events, concerts, fundraisers, conferences, meetings and community gatherings. The program supports educational, cultural, and community groups and organisations who demonstrate financial hardship.
The Conservatorium of Music offers a number of spaces for event hire including the Harold Lobb Concert Hall, the Foyer and various music studios.
In 2018, the University of Newcastle provided more than $40 000 of in-kind support to community organisations including Newcastle Music Festival, the Make It Made It Conference, Newcastle Writers Festival, World Voice Day and Newcastle Youth Orchestra.
The Partnership program covers venue hire fees only and basic staffing inclusions. Applicants must meet all standard conditions of hire and pay all additional charges such as public liability insurance, cancellation fees, additional audio-visual requirements and additional staffing such as ushers. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have experience in delivering successful events, supported by a team of people and have a rigorous promotional plan in place that will ensure their event is well attended and delivered successfully.
To be eligible for the Community Partnership Program you must:
- be an incorporated not-for-profit group, incorporated community group, registered charity or school
- have a track record of delivering successful, accessible and safe events
