Hazardous materials
The University's hazardous materials register provides information on the existence and location of any known or presumed hazardous materials found in buildings on the various University campuses and leased premises.
Materials include asbestos containing materials (ACM), lead based paint, and synthetic mineral fibres (SMF).
In an undisturbed state the vast majority of hazardous materials are safe and studies have shown that if the material is not disturbed and is in sound condition it poses no risk to health.
The registers will be updated as required and recommended by the University's Hazardous materials management plan.
If you suspect you have found hazardous material notify Infrastructure and Facilities Services on phone 4921 6500. An onsite review will be conducted to determine a course of action.
After hours please contact Safety and Security Services on (02) 4921 5888.
