UoN City Precinct

The University of Newcastle plays an important part in the renewed sense of vibrancy in the Newcastle CBD and our Newcastle City Campus is very much at the centre of the city's burgeoning arts scene.

Our wonderful Conservatorium of Music (part of the School of Creative Arts) is located in the Civic Centre precinct. Its premier Photograph showing Conservatorium's Harold Lobb Concert Hall at City PrecinctConcert Hall is a much-loved performance venue for local, interstate and international artists.

Also in our city campus are the Newcastle Legal Centre and Newcastle Graduate School of Business which are located in University House, a landmark art-deco sandstone building directly opposite Civic Park.

Our city presence provides opportunities for us to strengthen our relations with the business community and increases the number of opportunities for our students to integrate their studies with work placements.

Services and facilities

Being centrally located, the City Campus enjoys easy access to the growing number of services and facilities available in the city and the ever-popular Darby Street, including great shopping, cafes, restaurants, bars and galleries. Marketown Shopping Centre is less than one kilometre away.

Our City Campus Library has resources to support our music, business and law programs.

Music students enjoy access to a specialist collection focusing on classical European and Australian contemporary music as well as over 32,000 musical scores and collections in music therapy and ethnomusicology.

Our location

Our City Campus is located in the Civic Precinct at the corner of Auckland and King Streets, Newcastle.

The campus has strong transport links, making it an ideal study location for many of our students, particularly those who study part-time and work close by.
