There are five ways to get to the city campus, visit the getting there page for more information.

There are a number of accessible bays in the vicinity of NeW Space including a number of bays on Auckland, Hunter, King and Burwood Streets. There is also a disability parking bay in the Laman Street car park.

Yes you can – there are modern end of trip facilities in the bike storage facility under University House. This space will have showers, lockers and secure undercover bike storage for over 215 bikes. Lockers will be similar to the facilities at the Bike Hubs on Callaghan and will be available for both staff and student use.

Due to the change of teaching style class sizes will be smaller than what students are used to at Callaghan. As such the number of students required to travel to and from the City campus will also be reduced. Timetables are also being adjusted to reflect the change in teaching style.

More than 200 computers will be located throughout the building for students to use. The design of the building ensures that there are ranges of formal and informal study spaces both inside and outside the building and across all the floors where there are teaching spaces. There will be areas for quiet study in the library.

NeW Space is Wi-Fi enabled so you can use your own device in the study spaces throughout the building.

A café is located on the ground floor of NeW Space. Operating from Monday to Saturday, the cafe specialises in coffee, with a diverse range of grab-and-go style food options and pre-made meals.

Operating hours within semester will be:

  • Monday - Friday: 8am- 6pm
  • Saturday: 9am - 2pm
  • Sunday: closed

Within a short walk from NeW Space there are also convenience stores, cafés, bars and even high-end restaurants.

NeW space is open 24/7 with access managed by electronic access control points using staff or student ID cards outside of core teaching periods.

Building opening hours are:

  • Monday - Friday: 7am-10pm
  • Saturday and Sunday: 1pm - 5pm

Security are located within the building and are also responsible for the broader City campus areas. The Safety and Security team can be contacted on 4921 7962 or ext. 17962.

Outside of these hours students and staff can access the building using their staff or student ID card at the electronic access point located at the main entry on Hunter Street.

From semester 2 and trimester 3 2017

  • all business and law undergraduate courses previously taught at Callaghan will be delivered in NeW Space
  • all business and law postgraduate courses delivered on a trimester basis will be delivered in NeW Space
  • Juris Doctor students will relocate into NeW Space
  • all Bachelor of Creative Industries (BCI) and Master ofCreative Industries (MCI) core courses will be delivered in University House
  • all other School of Creative Industries courses remain at Callaghan or Ourimbah.

When students move to classes within the NeW Space building many of these classes will be different from the usual large lecture type classes undertaken on Callaghan. Classes will be smaller in number and will be more active in their learning experience.

Trimester 2 business and law postgraduate courses will continue to be taught in University House up until Week 9 of Trimester 2. From the week commencing 24 July 2017 courses will be taught in NeW Space.

UON is providing an express shuttle service that will run between our Callaghan and City campuses. As much as possible, the timetable has been developed to allow enough time to travel between locations on the free shuttle for students who have classes in the city and at Callaghan.

All staff from the Faculty of Business and Law will be relocating from Callaghan to NeW Space. Most staff from the School of Creative Industries will continue to be based at Callaghan. If you take courses delivered from other faculties, those lecturers and tutors will remain at Callaghan.

If you are undertaking a program of study offered by the Faculty of Business and Law, the classes previously delivered at Callaghan will be delivered from NeW Space, with the exception of politics course POLI1010, which will be offered at Callaghan and in the city. Check your timetable or course outline information for information on the location of your class.
