For more than 30 years, Wollotuka has operated as a centre for Indigenous students – supporting enthusiastic and determined individuals to achieve their higher education goals while studying at the University of Newcastle.

Professional Positions

Student Recruitment Officer (3994)

In this position you will conduct the Schools to University (S2U) program and implement day to day activities of prospective students recruitment to attract and create awareness to Indigenous students into Higher Education. The role is responsible for activities across Newcastle and Hunter regions.

The Student Advancement Unit provides proactive advice and support to students on programs, courses, policies and procedures, and are responsible for providing key support to recruitment and retention activities relating to student recruitment, success and progression, issue resolution, and student compliance.

Executive Assistant (3995)

Under the supervision of the Director, this position provides administrative, project and personal support to the Director in a confidential environment.

The Executive Assistant will provide advice, analysis and support to the Director and contribute to the efficient management of the Directors’ office, including the implementation of projects and quality improvement systems and procedures.

Indigenous Student Advancement Coordinator (4038)

This role supports the Student Advancement Manager and leads Indigenous Student Advancement Officers in the delivery of exceptional student/client centred service to Indigenous students to increase access, participation, retention and success of Indigenous students.


Academic Positions

Our Lecture and Senior lecturer positions deliver significant contributions to teaching, research and professional service in the field of Indigenous Knowledge’s and Workplace Inclusion. You will have substantial academic expertise, practitioner experience and be recognised for your research contribution a range of Indigenous/business/social/cultural contexts. The role of the Lecturer and Senior Lecturer is to support the Wollotuka Institute by taking advantage of opportunities and developments in the field of Indigenous Higher Education to position the Institute as a leader in this field. These positions will see you actively contribute to the delivery of the University’s Strategic Plan.

In the above positon you will have the opportunity to provide leadership in implementing the values and objectives of the Wollotuka Cultural Standards. You will collaborate with other staff within Wollotuka Institute and the Indigenous Education and Research Innovation portfolio. These positions will see you demonstrate educational leadership in Teaching and Learning at the course, program, discipline and Wollotuka Institute level within one (1) of the disciplines listed above.
