About our School
Welcome from Head of School
Without mathematics, interpreting the real world would not be possible. Mathematics provides the language for sciences and underpins most technological advances that we rely on every day.
Welcome to the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. We have established an enviable reputation for our teaching and research standards largely due to the high calibre staff within our School.
In response to the demand for graduates with quantitative and analytical skills, we have a range of flexible degree options for students to tailor their studies.
Within our Bachelor of Mathematics degree we offer majors in applied mathematics, pure mathematics and statistics. Majors in physics and photonics are available through the Bachelor of Science.
We offer coursework at an undergraduate and postgraduate level as well as Research Higher Degree programs.
Our teaching staff are committed to providing quality training across all these areas of study and have a strong focus on student needs.
The research achievements of our staff are some of the highest within the University. Our leading academics contributed to a number of fields of research excellence and in particular to our University being ranked among the top in the country for applied mathematics in the 2012 Excellence in Research for Australia rankings.
The School is actively involved in a range of outreach activities including the highly successful Science and Engineering Challenge and the SMART program. Our goal is to engage the community about the importance and benefits of mathematics.
Welcome to the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences and we look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.
