FSCIT has done an amazing job in the 2015 QS subject rankings. We improved in four subject areas and held our positions in two.

Under the Australian Research Council's Discovery Projects scheme, UON received $9.4 million for 24 UON lead projects. The Faculty of Science and IT received 25% of the total funding that went to Discovery projects at UON.

Applying for research grants is becoming increasingly difficult and extremely competitive as funding body budgets are declining while the number of applicants is increasing. For example, in 2013 there were almost 4000 applications submitted to the NHMRC, approximately 600 of which gained funding (17%).
