Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
The Faculty of Health and Medicine is committed to fully utilising the skills and capabilities of all members of its workforce, building on UON’s equity and social justice values which facilitate an equitable and diverse workforce.
Accordingly, the Faculty of Health and Medicine is committed to:
- Treating all staff and students with dignity and respect regardless of their age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture, sexuality, sex, disability or other arbitrary feature; and
- Creating and fostering equality through a supportive and understanding environment for every individual to achieve their maximum potential regardless of difference.
The Faculty has operationalised its responsibility to deliver an equitable and inclusive environment through the NeW Futures Strategic Plan. Part of this plan was the establishment of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee (EDIC) (previously Gender Equity Committee), which has recently reviewed and updated its own Faculty specific operational plan underpinned by UON’s broader equity plans, including but not limited to focus areas such as:
- Gender Equity
- Culturally diverse and underrepresented backgrounds
- Low Socioeconomic Status
This operational plan helps drive the faculties enduring commitment to equity and social justice to embed and institutionalise as many measures/actions as possible in order to ensure their sustainability.
All staff members in the Faculty of Health and Medicine are welcome to contribute their thoughts, ideas and feedback. If you are interested or if you have any questions regarding the Committee, please contact the Faculty of Health and Medicine Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
