Industrial experience placement

As a central requirement for accreditation by Engineers Australia, all engineering students are required to complete at least 12 weeks of productive work experience before graduation. Hosting students on work placement can be an excellent way to hand pick future employees and familiarise them with your business. With students in a wide range of engineering, computing and built environment disciplines, there’s bound to be someone with the interest and knowledge to match your business needs. Work experience placements can be either paid or unpaid. All students on an unpaid placement are fully covered by University insurance.

Final year project

Final year projects are an integral part of all of our Engineering and Construction Management programs. Industry-based final year projects provide an excellent vehicle for developing links with Faculty and gaining access to talented students to work on real problems within your business. Timelines range from 6 to 12 months, and students can work individually or in teams. Each project also benefits from direct supervision by expert academic staff from the relevant area. Students can volunteer or be employed directly by the industry partner.

Industry placement stream

Students in our new Industry Placement Stream complete their program alongside a total of 30 weeks of industry experience in the form of 3 x 10 week summer placements. Your business can now sponsor a student in this stream by providing an Industry Placement Scholarship. This builds a personalised relationship between your business and a talented student who has the opportunity to grow and develop within your workplace. This can culminate in a highly focused, industry-based final year project within your company in their last year of study.

Research scholarships

Industry-funded research scholarships can be created for undergraduate and postgraduate students to either help them complete their studies, or facilitate a specific placement. These scholarships and placements can range from 1-5 years, with funding from an individual industry partner.
