Placement requirements
In order for students to attend a placement in a NSW Department of Education facility or other NSW School or Service, all students must meet the following criteria:
- undergo a NSW Working with Children Check – Individual and have received a NSW Working with Children Clearance number from the NSW Government, Office of the Children's Guardian.
- Complete the online Child Protection Awareness e-training and obtain the automated Certificate.
- Complete the online Anaphylaxis e-training and obtain the automated Certificate.
- Record your completion of the above steps on the SONIA placement system. Refer to the Education Placement Requirements instruction sheet for step by step instructions.
In addition to the above requirements, Teacher Education Students must pass the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students prior to enrolling in their final placement course.
Students must ensure they adhere to the University of Newcastle Student Placement Policy and Code of Conduct.
How Important Is This?
These requirements are VERY important!
All students undertaking a placement must meet ALL criteria. Any student who does not meet ALL criteria will not be allocated a placement. If you are unable to complete your placement you will not have met the requirements to graduate from your chosen degree.
