UoN-NSWPF Newcastle Beach Soccer Tournament

In collaboration with members of the NSW Police Force Newcastle Local Area Command the University of Newcastle, International Office is coordinating a Beach Soccer Tournament on Wednesday 21 May, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, at Nobbys Beach and I would like to invite you to attend this event.

This event is designed to provide an active community engagement opportunity for international students, NSW Police Force Officers from the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Local Area Command and University of Newcastle staff. It is supported by members of University of Newcastle Safety and Crime Consultative Committee, with membership from NSW Police Force Local Area Command, Newcastle City Council, Newcastle University Student Association and University Staff.

On the day there will be 9 teams formed, 2 which will be the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Police Force, with the other 7 teams made up of 8 international students and 2 Police Officers. The teams will play a round robin beach soccer tournament across the day with the day concluding with a grand final and trophy presentation at 3:15pm.

In addition to the Beach Soccer Tournament a wide range of Police resources have been committed to the initiative. These include; PCYC Mobile Information Vehicle, Constable Charlie and the Crime Prevention Van, Volunteers in Police (VIPs), Highway police car, Transit Police Officer. These services in addition to other organisation such as the Beach Soccer Association of NSW, Lions Club and the Newcastle Jets have come on board to assist in a facilitating a high level of community engagement for our students.

Detective Superintendent Mr Gavin Dengate (Corporate Spokesperson for Safety of International Students)and Superintendent Mr John Gralton, Newcastle City Local Area Commander will be in attendance from the NSW Police across the day, as well as the many local Police members and international students who have nominated to be players on the day. Interested staff members are welcome to attend. We are looking forward to a fantastic event for all involved.
