Echo 360 System Update

The Centre for Teaching and Learning is very happy to inform our teaching community that all of the teaching spaces at the University of Newcastle's Callaghan, Ourimbah, and City campuses seating 40 students or more have now been equipped with Echo 360 Lecture Capture capabilities.  This means that you can now schedule recordings of all of your lectures that are held in these rooms.

There are also many smaller venues that are Echo-enabled.  To see if your teaching space is equipped - check the Echo-enabled venues website.  Rooms in our Sydney and Port Macquarie locations are being equipped within the next two weeks.

We know that students are increasingly reliant on recorded lectures as review and study tools, and are requesting that more lecturers utilise this important resource for all of their classes.  With this in mind, and with our newly increased functionality, we would encourage you to record and make your lectures available through EchoSystem within UoNline for all of your classes beginning this semester.

The University of Newcastle, along with most other Australian universities, is moving to a model where recordings of virtually all lectures will be made available to students.  We are hoping to have the technical infrastructure in place to do this by second semester this year.

To request that your session be recorded, please complete the Echo online booking form.

Staff at UoNline, your Blackboard and Virtual Learning Environment Support Team, are looking forward to working with you to assist with scheduling, managing and publishing your captured lectures.  The team can be contacted on extension 17101 or via email at

Best regards,
