RESEARCH RETREAT 2017

The annual ELFSC Research Retreat was held on Thursday 13 July. We enjoyed some wonderful presentations showcasing projects by ELFSC researchers and colleagues from other parts of the university. Our invited guest, A/Professor Sarah O’Shea from University of Wollongong, shared her experiences as an equity scholar and provided many helpful tips on doing research and disseminating findings.

The final session of the day had attendees identifying their research interests and needs – thank you to those colleagues who filled out the form at the retreat or who have done so subsequently (and a reminder to those who haven’t). This information is the starting point for further conversations, both individually and collectively, about how Anna and Jo can support you as researchers.

UPCOMING RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

The first Research(er) Development workshop will commence later this month – look out for a calendar invite. These sessions are open to all ongoing staff and will be run on a three weekly cycle, on a different day each time to ensure that everyone has a chance to participate.

Jo will also be making contact this month to set up individual meetings in order to tailor-make your research support.

SAVE THE DATE: THURSDAY 21 SEPTEMBER

Jennifer Stokes (UniSA College and Deputy President NAEEA) will be presenting on her research and teaching in enabling programs. The following Digital Literacy clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZ7gBmEQXRQ was designed for an application for an innovation award. It captures the possibilities of multimodal literacies and connecting with the diverse knowledges that the students bring to Foundation Studies.

Please get in touch with ELFSC Research Manager Jo Hanley if you have any research news or project updates for future newsletters.
