Services and Support

In addition to being responsible for the overall administration of RHD candidature and scholarships, the Office of Graduate Studies is responsible for coordinating the following activities for research higher degree candidates:

NUPSA

The Office of Graduate Studies works closely with NUPSA, the Newcastle University Postgraduate Students Association, meeting regularly to discuss initiatives to assist research students.

Research Training Sub-Committee

The Dean of Graduate Studies is also the Chair of the Research Training Sub-Committee. It exercises the responsibilities presented in the Rules Governing Research Higher Degrees, Rules Governing Professional Doctorates, Rules Governing Postgraduate Research Scholarships, Rules Governing Higher Doctoral Degrees and the Code of Practice for Research Higher Degree Candidature. The Committee also provides policy advice to the Research Committee.

The members of the Committee are the Faculties' Assistant Deans Research Training, who are academic staff member responsible for the overall coordination of matters concerning research higher degrees in the Faculty and are a primary contact for research candidates. There is also a postgraduate student representative on the Committee.
