Connecting to the University

Dial-in Modems

The University provides a limited dial-in modem service which allows access to University services and course-related material from home. The University does not provide a Broadband service.

NOTE: If you connect from outside the Newcastle local call area, STD charges will apply.

Dial-in access may not be shared with any other person (including family members). All use of the dial-in modem service must be in accordance with the University Computing and Communications Facilities Conditions of Use and also the Guidelines for Acceptable Use of The Internet.

Staff Access

Student Access

There is a limited number of modems and this may limit service access during busy periods.

Students are limited to two (2) hours connection per session.

Modem services will disconnect if left idle (ie: no activity, such as clicking links) for 20 minutes.
