HEW Level 5 and greater OR if the combination of salary and superannuable allowances equate to HEW Level 5 salary rate or greater

The requirement to contribute to an approved superannuation scheme is compulsory. If you are not a current member of the New South Wales State Superannuation Scheme (SSS) or the New South Wales State Authorities Superannuation Scheme (SASS) you will be required to join UniSuper Limited and contribute at the rate of 7% of salary. A generous employer contribution of 17% of salary is provided under this scheme and additional voluntary contributions can be made either pre or post tax.

If you are not a current active member of UniSuper, SSS or SASS, you are required to complete the Membership Application form contained in the front of the Welcome Product Disclosure Statement for Defined Benefit Division and Accumulation Super (2) members included with the offer. Please return the completed application form to Human Resource Services.

If you wish to transfer your membership of SSS or SASS, you must complete an exit form with your previous employer and provide details of your membership to Human Resource Services.

Commencement of salary payments cannot occur until the completed Application Form is returned to Human Resource Services.

HEW Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4

The requirement to contribute to an approved superannuation scheme is not compulsory, however is available. You may elect to join UniSuper Limited as a full member, or if you are a current active member of the New South Wales State Superannuation Scheme (SSS) or the New South Wales State Authorities Superannuation Scheme (SASS) you may transfer your membership.

  • If you wish to transfer your membership of SSS or SASS, you must complete an exit form with your previous employer and provide details of your membership to Human Resource Services.
  • Should you elect to become a full member of UniSuper you will be required to contribute at the rate of 7% of salary. A generous employer contribution of 17% of salary is provided under this scheme and additional voluntary contributions can be made either pre or post tax. For the purpose of joining, you are required to complete the Membership Application form contained in the front of the Welcome  Product Disclosure Statement for Defined Benefit Division and Accumulation Super (2) members included with the offer.
  • Should you not wish to contribute to UniSuper at the rate referred to above then basic superannuation is available through the UniSuper Accumulation Super (1). You are under no obligation to make personal contributions to the Accumulation Super (1). The University contributes on your behalf to provide basic superannuation. For this purpose, you are required to complete the Accumulation Super Application form contained in the front of the Welcome Product Disclosure Statement for Accumulation Super (1) members included with the offer. 

Commencement of salary payments cannot occur until the completed Application Form is returned to Human Resource Services.

Period of employment is 1 year or less

NOTE: These rules do not apply to staff members who are under the age of 18 or over the age of 70.
