Auchmuty Library Roof Terrace reopens

The refurbished Auchmuty Library Roof Terrace is now open. Students can study and meet in an attractive outdoor area that is vastly different to the windswept concrete space it replaced.

A colourful mural provides visual appeal across one wall, while shade areas and artificial turf help to soften the area. Comfortable, contemporary seating offers a range of spaces for students to meet and study. There is wireless throughout so students can use laptops and other portable devices and study, read, or just take a break in the fresh air.

This is Stage One of the redevelopment of the terrace. Stage Two will begin shortly and the architect’s vision is to give the roof top a “park like feel” with views of the courtyard, improved lighting and a cityscape mural along the external wall of the Flowers room.

The reopened space is a welcome addition to the Auchmuty Library. All the University libraries continue to be busier than ever and there is a huge demand for all kinds of seating and study spaces.
