Change to our new web site launch date
Behind the scenes, content is growing across all areas of the new web site in preparation for review by the Vice-Chancellor.
The launch date for the Homepage and Research pages – proposed for April - has been held off to allow time to ensure that all new content, particularly on the top level pages, contains clear and strong messages about our future.
“There is only one opportunity to make a first impression with the new site, so we want to be sure that the words on the pages are as strong as the new design,” Project Lead Barbara Iwinska said.
The project team is working closely with web publishers and business areas to tie the content to NeW Directions, our strategic plan for 2013-15, while Barbara explores the option to combine the first two phases for ‘go live’.
“There are certain advantages to combining the two phases now,” Barbara said.
“It would definitely strengthen the launch in terms of new, forward-looking messaging, simply because we would be going live with a lot more new content.
“It would also make for a better user experience, as there would be less movement between the old and the new sites,” Barbara said.
The revised roll out schedule will take these and other factors into consideration. Staff can subscribe to the Web Redevelopment Project Blog for updates.
