UON makes shortlist in Times Higher Education International Video Competition!
The University of Newcastle is the only Australian university shortlisted to six finalists in the Times Higher Education International video competition.
The competition was open to anyone working or studying at any university around the world. The theme was to list the three best things about the Uni in less than 20 seconds. Topics could cover any aspect from the quality of research or teaching to social and cultural activities, employment opportunities, or the campus environment.
Of the six finalists, one winner will be chosen based on the number of times their video is viewed, in addition to criteria around creativity and content.

Times Higher Education ranks the world's top colleges, universities & institutions and is regarded as the global authority on higher education. In addition to the World University Rankings, it provides news and educational resources for college professionals and teachers worldwide.
The latest Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings has ranked the University of Newcastle in the top 251-275 group of universities, up from 276-300 in 2012.
Nationally, UON has moved up two places since 2012 to rank ninth in the country, and the University is now the highest ranked by the THE outside a capital city in Australia.
