UNify project update
During the last few months, IT Services has been busily migrating staff mailboxes and archives from GroupWise to UNify, the University’s new email and calendaring system which is based on Microsoft’s Office 365 service. More than 70% of University staff have now been successfully migrated with only three more groups to go!
As the project has relied on information reported from the GroupWise, Human Resource, and Identity Management systems, it’s been impossible for the project team to confirm the status of each and every email account due to the information about the tens of thousands of staff past and present not always being up-to-date or accurate.
This is becoming more critical as the project approaches the final stages of migration work, with preparation now underway for the decommissioning stage after which, staff will not be able to access GroupWise. As part of the decommissioning process, from Thursday 24th October 2013 a number of unconfirmed email accounts will be disabled so that the project can validate (or otherwise) that they are no longer being used.
If you need a staff email account (and archives) ongoing and as yet have not received any communication about being migrated, it is important that you contact the UNify project team as soon as possible to avoid any disruption to your email service.
If you require further information about the UNify project team you can to contact your Champion, Business Working Party representative, or the UNify team. Contact details can be found on the UNify Website.
We thank you for your patience and cooperation and look forward to working with you for a smooth and successful migration to UNify.
