Emergency SMS alerts for staff

With the unseasonably warm start to spring on the back of a dry winter, authorities are expecting an increased fire risk this summer. We are already aware that UWS evacuated their Hawkesbury Campus on 10th September due to power failure associated with bushfires.

There are steps we can take to be better prepared, reduce the impact and recover quickly.

We are working to update our emergency management plans across the campus and in the case of an emergency, we may need to contact you with instructions on necessary actions to take to ensure your health and safety.

The fastest way to do this is via SMS text message alert to your mobile phone, and so we need to have your details up to date.

To ensure we have your current mobile phone number:

  1. Log in to HROnline;
  2. Click on My HR and select Employment
  3. Select My Staff Directory Details
  4. Click on Attribute Type 6, Critical Incident SMS (emergency use only)
  5. Add or edit your contact details.

Take this step now so that you can be better prepared in emergency conditions.

This text message alert system will not be used for other contact purposes, but if you have any concerns about your information and how it will be used, please contact Andrew Sargent (ext 17400) or Sara Knight (ext 16489) from Risk and Assurance Services.
