Wraps of love
It can be difficult to know how to provide help and support to a friend and colleague who is ill.
This has been the case in IT Services over the past months when two long term employees have had their lives turned upside down with news of their diagnosis with cancer.
Veronica Pettifer is undergoing treatment for breast cancer, and Catherine Oswald is facing a battle with bowel and ovarian cancer.
Both women are continuing to work during their treatment and remain positive in their outlook.
Their colleagues in IT Services wanted to demonstrate their support in a tangible way.
The solution - a 'wrap of love'.
Anyone who was able knitted or crocheted a coloured square for the wraps - pink for Veronica (the colour associated with the National Breast Cancer Foundation) and teal for Catherine (Ovarian Cancer Australia's colour).
Hopefully Veronica and Catherine will be reminded of the love and concern felt for them whenever they use the wraps.
IT Services will be holding a fundraising morning tea this month to raise funds for cancer research, and encourages all areas of the University to do the same, and show support for Veronica and Catherine.
