Respectful workplace behaviour

Three becomes one!

Three of the University of Newcastle's required Orientation courses have merged into one, saving time for staff.

From September, the workshops Diversity Dynamics, Code of Conduct, and Respect Workplace Behaviour will be combined into a single 3-hour session titled Respectful Workplace Behaviour.

Presented by the Equity & Diversity Unit and Organisational Development, the workshop will provide an overview of how anti-discrimination law and University diversity policies, including the Code of Conduct, impact on your workplace on a daily basis, specifically in relation to harassment and bullying.

The workshop covers:

  • the legal framework
  • your rights and responsibilities
  • realistic strategies for identifying and dealing with harassment and bullying
  • hints & tips on working with students from diverse backgrounds, in particular international students and students with a disability.

The Code of Conduct component will examine the University's values and explore how we can incorporate these values and `live' them through our role within the University. The training incorporates the introduction of the University's Governance and Policy framework thereby linking structure and our values.

This workshop includes real life examples and case studies.

Please note this training is available to all University staff, not just new staff.
