Welcome.  You are now in the loop!

Issue 22: September 5, 2012

This is a jam-packed issue of In the Loop, so be sure to read it all!

We have information on the 2012 Three Minute Thesis Final.  In this popular competition, current research higer degree students from all faculties have just three minutes to explain their research to a non-specialist audience.  Sound easy?   See if you still think so after attending the Final!  Click the article for details on where and when.

The 2012 Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Professional Staff Excellence are now open for nominations.  Do you know of anyone who have exceeded normal work expectations?  Are you aware of a team that has produced an outstanding contribution?  Nominate!

Don't forget to read the second part of the UoN Quick Tour of SAS.  This time, we take a closer look at the essential student support services of Careers and Counselling.  Did you know that 67 employers attended the 2011 Graduate Careers and Employment Expo?

In the staff Orientation space, three workshops have been combined into just one called 'Respectful Workplace Behaviour'.  This saves time for new staff in their busy first few weeks at UoN.

Also, we have an update on the staff email project.  In the first half of 2013, we will be making the switch from Groupwise to Microsoft's Office 365 for Education service.  This means we can join the 'Microsoft Cloud,' just as our students have already done.

Keep an eye on your email inbox on September 17.  That's when the invitations to complete the 2012 Your Voice Sample Survey will be sent to 50% of full-time ongoing staff and 25% of casual or fixed-term staff.  Will you be one of the lucky ones?
