Election of three staff members to the University Council
Academic Staff
At the close of nominations on 6 August 2012 for the election of two academic staff members to the Council for the term of membership 1 September 2012 to 31 August 2014, five (5) valid nominations were received:

- Dr Tom GRIFFITHS
- Professor Mario MINICHIELLO
- Professor John ROSTAS
Non Academic Staff
At the close of nominations on 6 August 2012 for the election of one non-academic staff member to the Council for the term of membership 1 September 2012 to 31 August 2014, five (5) valid nominations were received:
- Ms Brid CORRIGAN
- Dr Bernie CURRAN
- Ms Leanne HOLT
- Ms Lea PETROVIC
- Ms Lorretta SWINDALE
Declaration of Ballot
A ballot is therefore declared for each category. A preferential ballot will be conducted by postal vote. Candidates’ statements will be distributed with voting papers and will be available on the Elections Index Page (www.newcastle.edu.au/service/elections/) from Wednesday 15 August 2012.
Voting papers will be dispatched to eligible staff members from Wednesday15 August 2012.
- All eligible non-academic staff of the University who hold full-time or half-time or greater fractional appointments may vote for the election of one non-academic staff member to Council.
- All eligible academic staff of the University who hold full-time or half-time or greater fractional appointments may vote for the election of two academic staff members to Council.
To be included in the vote, completed voting papers will be required to reach the Returning Officer by no later than 5pm, Thursday 13 September 2012.
A count of the ballot papers will take place on Friday 14 September 2012 with the results of the ballot declared after the count.
