Engage Newcastle

Engage Newcastle opens up a virtual ‘front door’ to our community.

The Community Engagement Office has launched Engage Newcastle, an initiative designed to facilitate and enhance the University’s community engagement mission.

Engage Newcastle is a microsite dedicated to connecting our strongest assets — our researchers, staff, students and resources — with our community. It is also designed to communicate our current engagement activities, encourage dialogue and promote joint opportunities between the University and our general community, industry, alumni, partners and schools.

Manager of Community Partnerships Sharon Douglas said, “We have launched Engage Newcastle to make it easier for our communities to access the University and to see what excellent engagement is already taking place. It will also help in creating sustainable University-community partnerships and programs that add value to our communities.”

“The University has a vital role to play in shaping the region in a positive way and we encourage all staff to visit Engage Newcastle and find out more about how they can work with our office and the community.”

To launch Engage Newcastle, the University commissioned an exhibition by photo-journalist Conor Ashleigh to showcase the rich diversity of the Hunter community. The exhibition is on display at the John Paynter Gallery at the Lock-Up until Sunday 26 August 2012.
