Research Academic- Expressions of Interest
The School of Medicine and Public Health wishes to appoint an experienced researcher to join a small curriculum renewal implementation team for the Joint Medical Program (JMP). Reporting initially to the Dean of Medicine and subsequently to the Professor of Medical Education, the researcher would conduct reviews of relevant literature and liaise with Working Group Chairs and others in the collection and dissemination of material which would assist the working groups.
Phase One of the curriculum renewal process (the consultation phase) has been completed and a new curriculum framework has been endorsed. Phase Two is now underway, with a number of working groups established to develop aspects of the curriculum.
At this point in the curriculum renewal process, the need for a sound pedagogical rationale for the innovative features of the proposed curriculum has been identified. A further fruitful area of research might be the examination and documentation of the curriculum renewal process itself. It is anticipated that research in all these areas would have publishable outcomes.
It is expected that the successful applicant would have a research interest in pedagogy and curriculum development (preferably related to medical education).
The position may suit someone wishing to undertake doctoral or post-doctoral studies in medical education, or a similar pedagogical discipline, and is available on a full-time, fixed-term basis for 12 months.
