The power of MOE

What is MOE?

Hardware and software computing environments at the University are managed and delivered via the Managed Operating Environment (MOE).

The MOE consists of the following major components: Desktop Hardware, Desktop Operating Systems, Desktop Applications and Desktop Computing Environment Management.

Recent security alert and MOE

On June 6, Microsoft advised IT Services of the existence of a significant international security issue that enabled unauthorised installation of malicious software.

Significant effort and additional work hours from IT Services' staff meant that within 24 hours of this advice, over 90% of our Windows desktop fleet (approximately 6,300 computers), was protected.

IT Services has not received any reports of compromised computers as a result of this security issue.

This example reinforces the effectiveness of our Managed Operating Environment (MOE).
