Hot topics for ALL UoN staff
TEQSA Forum - 25 June @ 9.30am, HB15
Dr. Carol Nicoll, Chief Commissioner of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA)
You may be wondering why you are again being invited to hear Dr. Carol Nicoll.
Consider this:
- The registration of the University will be done by TEQSA in future.
AUQA has gone - replaced by TEQSA with a different mission and a very different approach. Not that we know fully what its approach will be. We know about the Threshold Standards with which we must comply. We know other sets of Standards are being developed but not what they will mean for us, nor how they may affect our activities. We also know it may change Academic Senate but not how.
TEQSA concerns ALL staff
You may think TEQSA doesn't concern you as you are/are not an academic/professional staff member or that you are casual/conjoint/tenured/contract (fill in whatever you would like to be). Or, you may have been told various, confusing, details of what TEQSA means for UoN.
Come to hear Carol. Hear why TEQSA was introduced, how it differs from the previous systems involving the states and Commonwealth. Above all, hear the most up to date view of what it means for the University.
Get a sense of how the University is managing the change.
Understanding what TEQSA and its introduction means is important for ALL professional and academic staff in the University, irrespective of your level or type of appointment. The more we all understand the more effectively we can respond to the changed environment. We will all be contributing. Find out now what it means.
Come to HB15. Carol will speak for about 45 minutes, leaving plenty of time to answer questions.
Courses & Assessment policy suite update
New members will be joining the Streamlining Academic Policies Working Party next week. We will integrate the extensive feedback we got from the University community. Thank you all for your input and helping shape this major change in the University.
You will have raised some complex issues, not all of which the SAP working party will be able to resolve. We will work with the Assistant Deans (T&L) and the Assistant Academic Registrars and then with Senate to find effective solutions.
October 2012 will again be policy month.
TEQSA again - yes, Chapter 3 of the Threshold Standards in particular will be central to our SAP work for Courses & Assessment and for the two other policy suites.
Download the Threshold Standards (read the Legislative instrument, leave the Explanatory Statement unless you have a lot of spare time and no Kindle account).
Got a question?
Happy to take questions on any aspect of what is happening regarding TEQSA and AQF. If you don't know how they relate you MUST come to the TEQSA forum.
