New staff mingle with UoN's Executive team

Staff who recently joined the University have had the opportunity to speak personally with our Executive Team and hear about their strengths and achievements at the Welcome and Introduction to Senior Staff induction session on 30 April at Isabella's Restaurant.

New staff welcome the opportunity

It was an opportunity to feel a greater connection with our Executive Team at the beginning of their career and to hear about the exciting achievements happening across the University.

Beverley Richards, Associate Director of Organisational Development, said that it was the informal conversations that made the session such a great success.

"Many staff have commented on having ample time to speak to members of the Executive and Leadership Teams informally. It also presented an opportunity for new staff to meet each other and network across disciplines and campuses”.

Professor Mario Minichiello from the School of Design, Communication and IT said the session provided insight into individuals and the vision they held for the University.

"I very much appreciated the recounting of their early motivations to study as students and their own personal backgrounds", he said.

Anna Besser, Project Officer from Planning, Quality and Reporting also enjoyed learning about our senior leaders.  The session provided her with a link between their pathways, focus, and vision for the University.

"I had met some senior staff previously however I had not heard them speak about their background and pathway to their current position.  The Induction provided an opportunity for them to articulate their passion for learning and teaching, community engagement and improving our University."

But, the big ticket item was commitment to open lines of communication.

"Ideas and feedback are welcome, right to the top! Exceptional for an organisation as large as UoN", Anna said.

"It was inspiring to see real passion and commitment at a management event", Mario said.
