Review of Casual Academic staff
A message from Ian Pike - Director, Human Resource Services
The University has committed to undertake a review of its casual workforce as part of ensuring we have the future workforce essential to deliver the University's vision.
The main focus of the review will be casual academic staff. The review will provide more information about this important cohort and inform strategies necessary to attract, retain, develop and support the University's workforce.
In the week commencing 19 March 2012, an on-line survey link will be emailed to all casual academic staff for their completion. Planning, Quality and Reporting will run the survey for a three week period and provide the results to the review co-ordinators, Professor John Burgess from the Newcastle Business School and Professor Julia Connell from the School of Management at Curtin University.
The results will be given to Heads of Schools prior to meeting with the review co-ordinators in mid-year. The review co-ordinators will then write the final report, which will be presented to the Executive Committee later in the year.
I encourage our casual academics to complete the survey as the results will inform the University's approach to casual academic staffing and our efforts to create an innovative and engaging work environment into the future.
I stress that all information collected and the data analysis process assures anonymity.
