Impressive new accommodation precinct set to begin
Have you heard the news that the University's new accommodation precinct at Callaghan received the 'go-ahead' in early March?
It's an impressive and exciting development
It's approval by the Joint Regional Planning Panel and the Newcastle City Council was based on its consistency with planning regulations, best practice guidelines, student benefit, the architectural character and physical level of amenity for future residents.
The precinct will bring the total number of beds to 1700 and comprises of four eight storey towers clustered around social spaces that include a cafe, recreation spaces and student facilities such as group study areas, games rooms and common areas for dining, live music and cinema.
Construction is due to begin mid-year 2012.
