International Student orientation 2012

Orientation for Semester One 2012 is upon us and the University is once again a hub of activity!

While starting University can be a daunting time for anyone, it can be particularly difficult for those who have packed-up their life into the largest suitcase that can fit onto an aeroplane, left their friends and families behind, and relocated to a country where the locals, in many cases, speak a different language.

This semester there will be in excess of 900 new International Students joining us from various destinations across the world. Most of them have started to arrive ready for Orientation activities next week.

This semester the top five countries students are joining us from are the USA, China, South Korea, Malaysia and Germany.

International Students, like all students, are a diverse group. Some are here for a short time on study abroad or exchange, some are here for the length of their degree, some are just out of high school, while others come with partners and children.

If you see an International Student wandering around campus, please make them feel welcome.
