Prepare for the Blackboard Learn 9.1 upgrade

Blackboard is the online learning management system used at the University of Newcastle. We are currently using version 8, and will be upgrading to version 9.1 on 14 December, 2011. There are some changes and new features you will want to know about. Upgrade Information Sessions, Hands-on Training Sessions and Drop-in Sessions are now scheduled to help you prepare for the upgrade.

Lectopia upgrade to EchoSystem

In January 2012, the University lecture capture system (Lectopia) will be upgraded to 'EchoSystem', a blended learning and lecture capture technology. EchoSystem retains many of the features you are already using in Lectopia, though many are enhanced with an easier interface and extra functions.

Teaching and Learning Showcase

Tuesday 22 November, Treehouse, Nelson and Lambert Rooms, Shortland Union Building, Callaghan campus

Two Fellows and nine project grant teams from across the University will present outcomes from projects related to teaching and learning at UoN.

Teaching and Learning Fellowships 2012

This Program supports a small number of leading educators within the University to undertake a collaborative project with CTL with the aim of promoting and supporting excellence in teaching and learning in higher education.

Teaching and Learning Project Grants 2012

The Teaching and Learning Project Grants are: 

  • designed to promote and support the development of unique initiatives; 
  • focused on enhancing the quality of teaching and learning and the student experience at the University of Newcastle; and
  • intended to foster a culture in the University that nurtures and supports that primary objective.
