Raise Concerns and Discuss Improvements to Health and Safety at Work

Have you noticed something that needs to be changed to improve people's health and safety? Do you know what to do? Do you have a suggestion? Do you have a concern?

Every person who works at UoN is represented through a health and safety workgroup:

  • Each Faculty has an Advisory Group. Other areas, such as Divisions, also have similar groups.
  • Each workgroup has a nominated representative who attends Advisory Group meetings
  • Advisory Groups are likewise represented at the University Health and Safety Committee.
The role of the representative

The role of the representative is to be a conduit to raise concerns and to participate in discussion on behalf of your workgroup. Questions such as how will changes effect the workgroup, is there a safer way to perform a task etc, are discussed and resolved or elevated to the UOHS Committee and then to the WorkCover Authority where necessary. The representatives also provide the workgroups with information about health and safety changes, improvements and activities.

Do you know who represents you?

Get to know your rep, discuss H&S, and ask questions. This person is a valuable help in ensuring we all have a safe and healthy workplace.

Further information is available on the Health and Safety website.

If the issue is a current hazard and needs addressing soon, a Hazard report through the Online Incident Reporting system should be used, and in an emergency, contact Security Services on ext: 15888.
