Leadership Development 2013
Effective leadership is critical to achieving the University's 2025 vision and NeW Directions 2013-2015 Strategic Plan. As the sector becomes more competitive, there is a greater need for all leaders to exercise strategic leadership.
To enhance leadership capabilities across the University, we will be offering the following leadership development programs throughout 2013:
HEADS OF SCHOOL LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
Heads of School hold one of the most challenging and important roles in the University. They are required to be leading academics, and in equal measure, academic leaders.
This program is for all new and continuing Heads of School and builds upon feedback from previous programs. It involves both internal and external specialists and is specifically designed to address the University's NeW Directions strategies.
DIRECTORS' LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
Strategic leadership by our Directors is essential for the growth and success of the University. This program aims to enhance leadership capabilities and support Directors in leading and driving organisational change through the implementation of NeW Directions strategies.
This program is for all new and continuing Directors and builds upon feedback from previous programs.
LEADERSHIP WITH IMPACT, MANAGEMENT ESSENTIALS 2013 (LIME)
LIME takes a fresh approach to line management leadership development. The 2013 offering includes a series of workshops throught the year with a focus on 'leading and driving organisational change'.
LIME is a targeted program designed for supervisors with multiple direct reports. It aims to develop individuals beyond supervisors to confident and engaging leaders so that they can contribute to constructive change at the local level.
WALKING THE LEADERSHIP LINE
This is an opportunity for managers and team leaders to learn how to have productive relationships with their staff by negotiating the line between friend / co-worker and leader.
PATHWAYS TO PERFORMANCE
The Pathways to Performance program is for both academic and professional staff who are leaders.
The aim of this program is to align our performance with NeW Directions' strategic vision by equipping our leaders with the practical skills required to traverse the breadth of pathways to performance so that.
Leaders will be provided with the opportunity to apply these skills throughout the workshop, as well as a toolkit to support them back in the workplace.
Feedback from previous sessions has been outstanding, with this program being rated the highest in terms of direct translation of training into work practices.
