Safety in Research and Teaching

Responsibilities

Research and teaching including laboratory, workshop, studio and fieldwork activities can be associated with a range of hazards. It is therefore essential that those who are responsible for research and teaching activities, identify the hazards and associated risk reduction strategies before the activity begins.

The University of Newcastle requires all research grant applications and undergraduate practical teaching activities to undergo such a process. In relation to funded research some granting bodies require assurance that this has taken place as a condition of release of grant funds.
