To begin the recruitment process there are a number of things you will need to do:

Human Resource Services is responsible for providing expertise and support for the recruitment process which will include:
Advice Prior to Advertising
When a position becomes vacant or a new position is created, Human Resource Service Team staff will meet with the relevant staff in the School/Unit to plan the recruitment and selection process and to discuss the various options available. The meeting would normally involve the Head of School/Organisational Unit and key members of the selection committee. Matters to be discussed include:

Detailed consideration of the long term staffing needs for example, full-time, part-time, job share, redeployment possibilities and the use of other employment strategies

Finalisation of position details and funding for example, whether the position as described in the position description is the best way of completing the tasks

Review/create the position description and selection criteria using the DWM descriptors

The advertisement - content and placement, internally and/or externally

Selection techniques and processes, eg task, seminar presentations, referees, etc

Composition of selection committees taking into account gender balance and appropriateness of nominated members

After Advertising
Human Resource Services will then:
- Receive and acknowledge the applications

Circulate applications to the Selection Committee for shortlisting

Attend shortlisting meeting for General Staff positions and provide advice on selection committee procedures, questions, feedback to unsuccessful applicants and if required attend committee as a member

Co-ordinate the shortlisting process for Academic Staff and obtain the appropriate approval for the recommended shortlist

Contact applicants and arrange interviews, accommodation, travel, etc

Provide membership on selection committees when necessary

Provide advice on interview questions, tasks and selection committee procedures

After interviewing and report processing, prepare a letter of offer to the successful applicant, and advise unsuccessful applicants of the outcome

Confirm acceptance, commencement date and induction date

Conduct the HRS Induction
