If you are a Student enrolled in Open foundation and Newstep you can come and see an adviser and attend workshops in the areas of language , academic skills and mathematics.
If you are studying mathematics as part of any course of study you can book to see a maths adviser for assistance, or work with a student adviser or use the maths space to improve your understanding of the work you are doing.
Any international student can access support to improve their language skills. You may want to take the DAELT diagnostic test or attend a workshop or an individual consultation.
Do you need to know more about writing essays or referencing or reading more effectively? Come to the workshops which Learning Support runs or book an individual appointment to improve your knowledge and skills.
You can look at our on line resources on the Learning Support Blackboard site and down load them if you wish. you can also book to use our Collaborative Learning Space for a group discussion or activity.

Learning advisors can help you to develop the necessary skills to write better essays, improve your reading, understand referencing, and generally make the most of your time as a student.
The workshops are advertised at the beginning of the semester and are designed to help students deal with the demands of university study. The workshops cover such topics as essay writing, critical thinking, reading strategies, referencing, time management, effective group work, taking or making notes, giving presentations and preparing for exams.

Support is available for International students who need assistance with English language skills.
The Diagnostic Academic English Language Test (DAELT) is an English language test designed for International students who are not from an English speaking background. After participating and completing the test you will be provided with feedback about your academic reading, listening and writing language skills.
The workshops follow on from the diagnostic testing that is done at the beginning of semester. These workshops aim to target weaknesses and give students the opportunity to practise and excel in speaking, listening, writing and reading in small groups.

Maths advisors are available to assist you with your Maths and Numeracy skills at an undergraduate level.
Any student enrolled in any course with a MATH or STAT code can take a diagnostic test online to get feedback on their maths skills.

As a follow up to the diagnostic testing, you can join one of the skills workshops. Maths and Numeracy skills workshops are run at an undergraduate level for courses such as mathematics, statistics, physics, chemistry, accounting, and economics.
