Attainment Ceremony

The University of Newcastle holds a Recognition of Attainment Ceremony for Open Foundation and Newstep students on the Ourimbah Campus each year.

The 2008 Ceremony will be held on Friday 15 February 2008 at 7.00 pm.

Students eligible to recieve one of these awards will be mailed a letter of invitation in January 2008.

It is important that students advise us that they will be attending by completing the online Foundation Studies Graduate Response Form by Thursday 31 January 2008.

What graduates need to do

Ceremony Information

The ceremony will be held in the Fine Art Studio (Building Code: FA on the Ourimbah Campus map) on Friday 15 February 2008 at 7.00 pm.

Registration: Recipients are required to register on the day outside the Fine Art Studio from 6.00 pm.

Duration of the Ceremony: The ceremony may take up to one and a half hours. Attendance requires that you remain seated for the duration of the ceremony.

Seating: Recipients will be seated with other students of the program in designated seating. Guests will be seated separately.

Dress: Smart casual dress is appropriate. Recipients do not wear academic dress ie. Caps and gowns.

Ceremony Procedure: Recipients proceed in alphabetical order to receive their certificates. A copy of the program and order of proceedings will be provided at the ceremony.

Childcare: Recipients with small children must arrange for them to be cared for by one of their guests during the ceremony.

Photographs: A photograph will be taken of every recipient receiving his or her certificate. The photographer will be present after the ceremony for individual and group portraits. Guests wishing to take photographs or videos during the ceremony must remain in their seats.

Mobile Telephones: Mobile telephones must be switched off during the ceremony.

Parking: There is no charge for parking. Parking is in designated areas. Fines may apply.
