If you are enrolled as a Commonwealth Supported students (previously known as HECS), you may be eligible for HECS-HELP assistance for your student contribution. All Commonwealth Supported students are required to complete a Commonwealth Assistance Form (CAF).
Payment options differ slightly dependent upon when you commenced your studies. Specific details on payment options can be found from the following links:
Students who commenced prior to 2005
Students who commenced in 2005 or onwards.
Semester census dates are set as 31 March for Semester 1 and 31 August for Semester 2.
Trimester census dates change each year. Current dates can be found on the Census Dates webpage.
The University cannot accept up-front payments after the census date for the semester or trimester. Payments made after the census date will be returned or refunded. Enrolment will be cancelled for the semester or trimester unless you have provided a current CAF and valid TFN.
The amount shown on the Student Account as HECS Charges will be deferred to the ATO if you have completed a CAF and provided a Tax File Number (TFN), and you are eligible for HECS-HELP.
The University will send you a CAN (previously called a HECS Liability Notice) after the semester or trimester census date to confirm your enrolment, HECS-HELP liability and details of your payment and/or advise of the amount that has been deferred to the ATO.
