Short-Term Experiences

To participate in a Short-Term Experience, students must research and select an overseas program suitable for their needs. Students should speak with their Faculty regarding academic requirements or credit. All students considering an overseas short-term experience must complete the Online Pre-Departure tutorial prior to submitting an application to the provider. Pre-Departure Consultation Sessions are also available with the International Office. Please check the Pre-Departure page to ensure you complete all the required steps in organising your short-term experience.

Rhodes University, SOUTH AFRICA
This is a fantastic 3 week course running in June / July of 2013 looking at the Environment, Development and Sustainability in Africa. You will get a chance to see the theory you learn put into practice in a fieldtrip around the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. Shanghai International Studies University, CHINA

* These academic short courses are part of the Exchange Program. You do not pay tuition fees to the overseas institution, however you will be liable for standard Newcastle semester charges via the HECS-HELP scheme. To participate in a short course at a partner institution you are required to submit the Online Pre-Departure tutorial and visit the International Office.

EDventure International
EDventure International aims to inspire individuals by teaching them global leadership skills which are developed and enhanced through direct engagement with volunteer projects overseas including Cambodia, Costa Rica and Thailand. Programs run for 3 weeks and are primarily focused for university students.
