University Scholars Leadership Symposium 2013
Humanitarian Affairs is organising the 4th University Scholars Leadership Symposium in Manila, Philippines from August 1 to 7, 2013. The Symposium is endorsed by the United Nations Department of Social Affairs and the United Nations Youth Unit in New York.
Humanitarian Affairs is a member of the World Association of Non-Governmental Organisations as well as the World Alliance for Citizen Participation. It initiates and supports humanitarian relief efforts and development programs in countries that are poverty stricken and disaster prone.
This year’s Symposium will see a culmination of 1,000 student leaders from leading universities worldwide to discuss issues pertaining to humanitarian matters and sustainable development. The program will also include training sessions on leadership and communication, project management and implementation, lectures from expert humanitarians such as Robin Lim (CNN Hero of the Year, 2011) and Australia’s very own Geraldine Cox (Founder of Sunrise Children’s Village, Cambodia), as well as hands-on service learning activities at a local community.
