International Students

We hope that you are enjoying your time in Australia and that you will take home happy memories of your experiences at the University of Newcastle.

When it is time to return home, we find that most students are excited - and they should be! However, time and experience of working with international students have shown that going home is rarely the unmixed joy that many anticipate. Among the joys of going home there are often painful and stressful moments of readjustment. While you have been away, you will have changed and things at home might have changed too. We hope that you will use the support services  at the university to assist with your transition to home.

The earlier you use these services, the more prepared you will feel.

There is also much practical preparation to think about too.  The links in the right-hand navigation will take you to important information that can help you understand what is involved.

Your Farewell Ceremony

The International and Advancement Division holds Farewell Ceremonies twice a year for international students who have finished their degree, but are unable to attend the Graduation Ceremony. It is our way of saying thank you to the important contribution that international students make to the University as members of our community.

Remember that even if you attend your Farewell Ceremony you can also attend a Graduation Ceremony
